Leading the Way in Equality: Taipei Steps Up!
In March 2026, the Taipei City Government participated in the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) and the NGO Commission on the Status of Women (NGO CSW) 70, taking concrete action to showcase its determination to build an inclusive, diverse, and gender-equal sustainable city to the international community, while actively aligning with global trends. Since 2007, Taipei City has consistently participated in the parallel and side events of the UN CSW & NGO CSW, maintaining a steady and impactful voice on the global stage for gender equality.
This year’s 70th session focused on "Ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls," emphasizing the creation of fair and inclusive legal systems, the elimination of discriminatory policies and practices, and the confrontation of structural barriers. Simultaneously, the session reviewed and deepened the progress made during the 65th session, which centered on "promoting women's full participation in public life and decision-making, and eliminating violence."
The Taipei City Government delegation headed to New York to not only participate in numerous international exchanges but also host three parallel events, sharing Taipei’s practical experiences and challenges in implementing gender equality policies. Furthermore, through bilingual (Chinese and English) promotional brochures, the delegation highlighted Taipei's dedication to advancing gender equality and showcased the city's unique resilience.
